Nose Piercing

Nose piercing is a custom in the Middle East and then to India by the Mughals in the 16th century. In the 1960s, when hippies made their way back from India, they brought with them the custom of nose piercing more as a sign of rebellion against society than anything else.

There are three types of nose piercings: nostril piercing, nasal septum piercing and bridge piercing. In India, the nostril is pierced on the left side because, according to ayurveda, this helps Eith easy childbirth and relieves pain during menstruation. Now, more and more people in the West want to experiment with piercing and nose piercing has become very fashionable.

Nostril piercing is done by passing a needle through the fabric and replace it with a piece of jewelry - either an amount or a nose ring. Studs are usually behind a screw and then hold it in place. Septum piercing, but not common, can be achieved by puncture of the tissue inside the nose, the septum. Common for this type of piercing jewelry includes rings, barbells, tusks or spikes. The rarest of all types of piercing nose piercing is the bridge, where ships brought jewelry barbells.

When selecting jewelry for nose piercing, it is always best to keep the location of the piercing in mind and select jewelry that match well. Jewels of 14 or 18 carat gold, surgical steel, niobium or titanium is the best at the beginning while the sterling silver jewelry is only advised after the piercing has healed.

Nose piercing should never be done by a piercing gun that traumatized tissue and can cause infections such as HIV. The greatest care must be taken while the piercing is healing, which can take up to 12 months. Never touch the piercing with dirty hands, keep it clean with antibacterial soap, and do not remove your Jewelry before the piercing is healed, unless absolutely necessary. These measures will help to protect a nose piercing of any dangers.

Tongue Piercing

There was a time when piercings were so uncommon that if you had one, you were one of few. This is not the case today. Many of us now have some king of piercing somewhere upon our bodies. In fact some tattoos and piercings are now so common that you are more individual if you don't have one. It's a good idea, generally speaking, to go for something different.

Tongue piercings are relatively commonplace these days but remain ever popular. The British Dental Association says that such tongue piercings can cause infections and even broken teeth.

So there is an associated risk of infection with a tongue piercing, more so than a normal piercing due to its close proximity to the airway. Any infection can result in swelling of the tongue as well.

To minimize the risk of any potential infection, it is generally advised that brushing is important so that the tongue does not become inflamed. Mouthwash is also useful in cleaning the parts of the mouth that brushing does not always effectively clean or even reach.

Sterilisation of piercing equipment is also vitally important when considering a tongue piercing. This process is done using an autoclave but not all piercers use it as it's relatively expensive to purchase. More reputable piercers should use such equipment so its worth checking that out also.

Reported problems after tongue piercings have been done, according to the EPPA, are relatively low, although I suspect many dentists would confirm problems with teeth due to the hard studs causing cracking and similar problems.. Once you have had your tongue piercing done, it generally takes around three weeks for it to heal. This is considerably less time than a belly button piercing takes to heal. Helix Piercing

Helix piercing is the piercing of the outer rim of ear cartilage. It is also called cartilage piercing but it's not right. Entire ear is made of cartilage and if you have a hole in the outer rim of the cartilage it is helix piercing. Helix piercing is the most popular type of ear piercings after the ear lobe piercing. The procedure is not very painful but it depends on the individual's pain threshold. The healing time is about 6-10 months and one should follow all aftercare recommendations to get a nice healthy piercing in 6 or more months.
Cartilage heals more slowly than ear lobe and though it will look quite all right in 6 month, it doesn't mean that your piercing is completely healed. A year is the proper time to get your piercing healed and ready to try new jewelry. You should wash your hands carefully before you touch the pierced place and it's better to do only when you use healing solution. Avoid sleeping on the pierced ear, avoid contacts with hair, cell phones and other objects.
The common jewelry inserted in fresh helix piercing is a hoop or a captive bead ring. These types of jewelry accommodate swelling better and the piercing heals faster. Later a barbell can be worn but it's better to wait until your piercing is healed. Helix orbital piercing is the other opportunity to enjoy helix piercing in its unusual modification. Two holes are done through the upper rim of the cartilage and special long barbell or a chain joins them. It looks unique and up-to-date. You can also make multiple piercings on the cartilage and enjoy wearing jewelry of various shapes in them.
14K gold jewelry is recommended for people who don't have allergy on this metal and the additional metals which are mixed with pure gold to create the durable and strong 14K gold. Gold jewelry has always been popular. It looks elegant, rich and is long-termed. There is a wide choice of gold jewelry for helix piercing nowadays - gold spiral barbells and gold circular barbells with balls and spikes which are recommended to wear only in completely healed helix piercing; gold hoop earrings, gold straight barbells. Helix cartilage jewelry in gold is available at reasonable prices and there is a wide choice of designs and styles. To enjoy your magnificent ear piercing wait until it's completely healed, find the stylish jewelry for it and be stunning!
